As NPI first reported last week, Vice President Kamala Harris will be making a quick trip to great Pacific Northwest this weekend to raise money for the Biden Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee that benefits the Biden-Harris campaign, the DNC, and more than fifty state and territorial Democratic parties. The White House has just released the Vice President’s public schedule for tomorrow, providing official confirmation of the trip and sharing new details that we didn’t previously know about.
Here’s the itinerary:
WEEKEND GUIDANCE FOR THE VICE PRESIDENT FOR
SATURDAY, JUNE 1 AND SUNDAY, JUNE 2On Saturday, June 1, the Vice President will travel to Seattle, Washington for two political events.
At 1:15 PM PT, the Vice President will depart Los Angeles, CA en route to Seattle, WA. This departure from Los Angeles International Airport will be open to pre-credentialed media.
At 3:30 PM PT, the Vice President will arrive in Seattle, WA. This arrival at King County International Airport will be open to pre-credentialed media.

At 6:00 PM PT, the Vice President deliver remarks at a political event. These remarks will be covered by an editorial pool.

At 9:15 PM PT, the Vice President will arrive in Los Angeles, CA. This arrival at Los Angeles International Airport will be closed press.
On Sunday, June 2nd, the Vice President will be in Los Angeles, CA and has no public events scheduled.
You can see that this really will be a fast trip.
The Vice President is slated to be in Seattle for less than four hours. She’ll spend more time flying up and down the coast than she will in the Emerald City. However, from a logistical perspective, it makes sense to pack all of the travel into one day. That way, the veep can spend all of Sunday in Los Angeles.
For operational security reasons, the Secret Service never provides advance notice of which arterials or highways they order local authorities to close to facilitate their protectee’s movements, so we can’t offer specific suggestions concerning what roads to avoid.
The West Seattle Blog has a rundown of the evidence that suggests that one of Harris’ fundraising events will be in West Seattle, so anyone residing or visiting that neighborhood can expect traffic impacts tomorrow afternoon.
Our team thanks the West Seattle Blog, KUOW, The Seattle Times (2x!), KIRO, KING5, KREM, and Bonneville’s MyNorthwest for pointing their audiences to our reporting about Harris’ visit from last week. Harris’ visit follows one made by President Joe Biden earlier this month — a trip we also were the first to report about here on The Cascadia Advocate.
Thanks to the pool reporter traveling with the Vice President, we have some idea of what Harris is likely to say tomorrow when she stops in Seattle, because tomorrow’s receptions are not her first stops on this fundraising swing.
Today, Harris spoke at an event in Rancho Santa Fe, San Diego, hosted by Jamie Carr, an active Democratic fundraiser, at 3:47 PM in an intimate room at the host’s residence. A group of about fifty guests stood listening to the remarks, in which Harris began by noting her connection to California as the state’s former attorney general.
Harris also recognized the attendance of Congress member Sarah Jacobs and the San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria.
“You’re a great role model of what a mayor can and should be,” she said of Gloria.
Harris proceeded to speak for eleven minutes, sharing a message of positivity and hope about the outcome of the November presidential election and pointing to specific wins of the Biden administration, including creating “thousands upon thousands” of jobs and building back America’s infrastructure.
“We will be just fine and we’re gonna win. Let’s start with that,” she said to resounding applause from the audience. “I believe momentum is so clearly on our side.”
The Vice President noted that she has taken more than 50 trips around the country so far this year, including a recent trip to Colorado where she spoke at a graduation ceremony at the U.S. Air Force Academy. “In my travels all over our country… people are showing up and they’re ready to fight for what we know and believe to be the promise of who we are. And so let’s keep that in mind,” the veep said.
She went on to mention the conversations she’s had with labor leaders about the work they have been able to do “because of the accomplishments of our administration,” as well as noted the administration’s investment in science and technology and manufacturing and work to confront the climate crisis.
“By my estimate, we are dropping at least a trillion dollars over the next ten years to deal with adaptation and resilience around extreme climate occurrences,” Harris said.
She didn’t mention Donald Trump by name but referred to him near the end of her remarks as “an individual who thrives in chaos and division and fear,” who “applauds dictators” and has “threatened to weaponize the Department of Justice against his political enemies.”
Harris specifically pointed to how Trump has threatened the Patient Protection Act, contrasting it to their administration’s work on healthcare and support of the law.
The Vice President returned to Los Angeles after concluding her remarks.
Tomorrow, it’ll be the same drill, but with more travel time.
“Washington State Democrats are excited to welcome Vice President Harris to our great state,” said Chair Shasti Conrad in a statement.
“As the first South Asian woman to Chair a State Party, I am honored to welcome Vice President Kamala Harris, the first woman and first person of color to be elected our Vice President to Washington State. Vice President Harris and President Biden have earned a second term through their stalwart defense of abortion rights, securing resources to make our communities climate resilient, and helping build the biggest economic comeback in the world since the pandemic.”
We’ll have more coverage of Harris’ visit to Washington State tomorrow.
